Assessment: Excel Financial
The ability to analyze, summarize and visualize data for jobs in finance and statistics is fundamental. Excel’s financial and statistical functions provide an invaluable assistance to any business, as are those who know how to use them.
By successful completion of this assessment, the candidates demonstrate that they are competent to prepare, analyze and summarize financial data sets and finally visualize them.
In practice the successful candidates should be able to use Excel’s statistical and financial functions.
To pass this assessment candidates need to have the advanced skills required to perform complex statistical or mathematical calculations using Excel.
The assessment syllabus also covers data management and pivot tables and charts.
- Basic Excel Concepts
(DAY, MONTH, YEAR, AND, IF, OR, cell naming, sorting, paste special) - Core Functions
(SUM, AVERAGE, MIN, MAX, COUNT, IFERROR, VALUE, IFERROR, OFFSET, SUMIF, CONCAT) - Statistical and Financial Functions
(COUNTIFS, AVERAGEIF, IRR, IPMT) - Data and Chart Management
(Duplicate values, modify charts, scenarios, goal seek) - Advanced Charts and Pivot Tables
(Pivot tables and charts, advanced charts)
The assessment uses Microsoft Office 2019
The assessment syllabus covers formulas and functionality common in the following versions of Microsoft Office:
Microsoft Office 2016, Microsoft Office 2019, Microsoft Office 2021, Microsoft 365
Also, the interface of Microsoft Office remains mostly similar for all the above versions of Microsoft Office.
